Frequently Asked Questions

Are you planning to have an army, a unit, or a collector's item painted? Here are some answers to help you better understand how Etienne Wargaming Studio works.

To get a quote, use the contact form or the "Request a quote" button. Specify the number of miniatures, the desired painting level, and, if you have one, your preferred color scheme. You will receive a response within 48 hours.

How to request a quote?

Rates depend on the size of the miniature (Infantry, Cavalry, Monster, Vehicle), the chosen painting level, and any optional extras (complex basing, assembly, etc.). Each project is unique and individually priced.

How are prices calculated?

The "Tabletop" level is ideal for gaming armies. "Tabletop+" offers a more detailed finish. "Tabletop Premium" delivers my most refined finish intended for the gaming table, with stronger contrasts, more developed volumes, and excellent readability.

The Display level is not intended for gaming. As the name suggests, it is designed exclusively for collection and exhibition.

Which painting level should you choose?

No. I purchase the kits directly from retailers and handle any after-sales issues with the miniatures if needed (rare, but it does happen).

I may make exceptions for particularly unusual miniatures. In any case, feel free to contact me and I will get back to you.

Do I need to provide the miniatures?

No, I offer a professional assembly service. The quote includes the assembly of the miniatures. If you assemble them yourself, I may decline the project: some finishes require painting parts before final assembly, although excessive sub-assembly can also compromise the result and, counterintuitively, increase the time spent on the miniatures.

Do the miniatures need to be assembled?

Absolutely. Whether you want to follow an official scheme or develop your own original color scheme, I can adapt to your preferences.

Reference photos are always welcome to help me understand your expectations. Sometimes it helps to choose your main colors by looking at paints in a store. There is no need to buy them, though: I probably already have those paints in my studio. My own “pile of shame” consists of paint pots…

A note about AI: I strongly advise against using an AI-generated image as a definitive color reference. Image-generation models still struggle with reliable, reproducible colors.

For custom color schemes, I paint a test miniature so that we can confirm the overall consistency and harmony together.

Can I request a custom color scheme?

Yes: magnetized components, custom themed bases, ultra-matte or gloss varnish, blood or mud effects, and rust. Feel free to mention these options when requesting a quote.

Do you offer any special options?

Can different painting levels be combined?

That is entirely possible. Do not hesitate to contact me and discuss it with me.

The turnaround time varies depending on the studio's current workload and the size of your order. On average, allow 6 to 9 weeks for a 1000-point project. A specific slot will be communicated to you when the quote is validated.

How long does an order take?

Can I modify my project while it is in progress?

As long as painting has not begun, minor adjustments are possible. Once the brush has touched the model, structural changes may incur additional costs and impact deadlines.

A deposit of 30% of the painting fee is required to reserve your commission slot, in addition to the cost of the miniatures. The remaining balance is payable when the project is complete, following your approval of the photographs. Orders are shipped by a secure carrier in carefully protective packaging.

How do payment and delivery work?

The studio sometimes offers fully finished projects available for immediate purchase. These offers are announced on my social media and in the store linked from this website.

Can you buy an already painted army?
