Pricing tailored to your project
Some armies contain many infantry miniatures; others consist of a few highly detailed characters or vehicles. The time required therefore depends as much on the nature of the miniatures as on the desired level of finish.
At Etienne Wargaming Studio, I personally carry out each project. I take time to understand its composition, your expectations, and any specific requirements before proposing a detailed quote.
Orders are accepted starting from €500.
Every project is different
Commission painting examples to help you plan
To help you estimate the budget for a painting commission, here are three examples of projects at the Tabletop Premium level:
10 Intercessors — Painting: €580 · New miniature kits: €53 · Total: €633
20 Battle Sisters — Painting: €920 · New miniature kits: €106 · Total: €1,026
3 Paragon Warsuits and 2 Penitent Engines — Painting: €796 · New miniature kits: €119 · Total: €915
These amounts are indicative examples, not fixed packages. They exclude any additional services and shipping costs.
What affects the price?
The number of miniatures matters, but it is only one factor among others.
The complexity of the sculpts, preparation and assembly, painting level, bases, vehicles, and any customizations influence the amount of work required.
A 2,000-point army made up of large miniatures can represent a very different workload from an army of the same points value containing several dozen infantry models.
The right painting level for the right purpose
I offer four painting levels: Tabletop, Tabletop+, Tabletop Premium, and Display.
The highest level is not always the most suitable. I can also help you find the right balance between the finish you want, how you use your miniatures, and your budget.
Four painting levels
Each painting level is defined first and foremost by its visual result: how the miniature should look at its intended viewing distance.
Choosing a level is not based on a prescribed number of highlights, blends, or techniques. Methods vary according to the sculpt, colors, materials, and the project.
The viewing distances below are guidelines. They help identify which details matter most for your intended use; the detailed description in your quote remains authoritative.

Tabletop
Viewing distance: approx. 1 m
A clean, consistent paint job that reads clearly at gaming distance. The main colors, shapes, and essential details are painted to give each miniature a clear identity and the army a cohesive overall look.
Transitions and secondary areas retain a deliberately simple treatment.
Tabletop+

Viewing distance: approx. 70 cm
A more refined gaming finish that reveals greater depth at arm’s length. Shadows, highlights, and distinctive details are more developed.
A balance between visual richness, precise finishes, and a cohesive army-wide look.

Tabletop Premium
Viewing distance: approximately 50 cm
A carefully refined paint job, equally enjoyable on the gaming table and under close inspection.
Volumes, textures, and contrasts are deepened. Transitions are more refined, details are better defined, and finishes are more precise.
A level suitable for collector armies and important pieces, without necessarily pursuing the same degree of minute detailing as the Display level.
Display

Viewing distance: 30 cm or less.
A piece worked on individually to reveal the full richness of its sculpt.
Forms, lighting, transitions, textures, and details receive particularly extensive attention.
The attention paid to the finishes allows for close observation, right down to the smallest elements.
A finish intended primarily for collection and display, distinct from competition painting.
Compare levels
Unsure which of two levels to choose?
To appreciate the differences, compare the four painting levels shown on the same miniature, under comparable photographic conditions.
Close-up photographs allow you to observe the details, but cannot fully reproduce how the miniature looks to the naked eye.
Describe your project and how you intend to use it. Together, we can choose a finish that meets your expectations and your budget.
Let's talk about your project
You do not need a finalized army list to contact me.
A faction, a few references, an idea of your preferred painting level, and an approximate budget are often enough to start a conversation.
